Prof. Nashwa El-Bendary received her Ph.D. in information technology from the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Cairo University – Egypt in 2008. From 2013 to 2015, she was the Head of Business Information Systems (BIS) department with the College of Management and Technology, and from 2016 to 2018, she was the Vice-Dean of graduate studies and scientific research with the College of Computing and Information Technology.

Since October 2020, Prof. Nashwa El-Bendary has been the Dean of the College of Computing and Information Technology (South Valley – Aswan) at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), also she has been the Director of China-Arab States Technology Transfer Center (CASTTC) at the AASTMT, since 2016 till present.

Prof. El-Bendary is the author of many scientific articles published in indexed and highly ranked international journals and conference proceedings. Her research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Image and Signal Processing, and Data Analytics. She currently participates in several international research/mobility projects with the Erasmus+ program funded by the European Union and technology transfer projects funded by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) program for Arab Countries. Prof. El-Bendary is the recipient of the UNESCO-ALECSO Award for creativity and technical innovation for young researchers in 2014, and the L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Fellowship in 2015, a member in the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) since 2016, an editorial board member in the Elsevier Applied Soft Computing Journal since 2017, a member of the ICT committee of the Technical Support, Monitoring and Impact Assessment Office (TSMIAO) – Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) since October 2019, and an IEEE Senior member since June 2019.
